The Rabun County-ELCA game, which would’ve featured the No. 2 team from Class 2A against the No. 2 team in Class A Private, is off after Rabun pulled out over COVID concerns late Wednesday.
Head football coach Jaybo Shaw announced the cancellation on the Wildcat’s football Twitter feed.

It will be a while before Rabun County returns to action. Walhalla High canceled its game against the Wildcats that was originally scheduled for Sept. 10. Coach Shaw says they’re trying to replace both games later in the schedule.
“We look forward to hopefully returning to competition as soon as the safety of our student-athletes is ensured,” he says.
Rabun County isn’t alone.
At least twenty-four games originally scheduled for this week have been canceled. In most cases, their contracts were voided, meaning no forfeits. Some teams have found new opponents while others are still looking.
Commerce canceled its game against Athens Academy and Flowery Branch dropped out of Friday’s matchup with Gainesville.
