Cornelia mourns passing of Commissioner Dodd

Wesley Dodd served the City of Cornelia for nearly 16 years before his death on Wednesday.

CORNELIA — The City of Cornelia is mourning the death of one of its longtime elected officials. Ward 1 City Commissioner Wesley Dodd passed away Wednesday morning after a short but vigorous battle with cancer.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Cornelia Commissioner Wes Dodd,” says city manager Dee Anderson. “Wes proved himself to be highly logical and rational, forward-thinking, and selfless as he served the citizens of Cornelia since November 2006. He was an integral part of Cornelia’s success over the years.”

Under Dodd’s guidance and “financial savvy,” Anderson says the city has been able to replace millions of dollars of infrastructure.

“Wes was a voice of reason for the city, especially regarding our finances and infrastructure,” he says. “We ask that you join us in keeping Wes’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.”
