Northeast Georgia woman killed in Banks County wreck

A two-vehicle wreck in Banks County killed a Carnesville woman and injured three others, including a 13-year-old boy.

The wreck happened shortly before noon Tuesday on State Route 63 just south of Wells Road. The Georgia State Patrol says 45-year-old Melissa Ann Stamps died as a result of the accident.

According to troopers, Stamps was driving a Buick Park Avenue northbound on GA 63 when she ran off the road and struck a guardrail. She traveled back onto the road, overcorrected then lost control of the vehicle. The Buick crossed the centerline and struck a Toyota 4Runner head-on.

The wreck seriously injured the driver of the 4Runner, 37-year-old Kimberly Nash of Commerce, and a 13-year-old male passenger. A 16-year-old boy was also riding in the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

Banks County EMS transported them to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

The State Patrol says no charges will be filed.
