Demorest’s Fourth of July celebration drew hundreds to the free concert and fireworks the city hosted on Sunday.

John King wowed the crowd with his music at Demorest Springs Park ahead of the fireworks at Concord Baptist Church.

“Had a few minor issues with traffic congestion after it was over. Other than that it went great!” says Demorest Police Chief Robin Krockum. “No issues. Good crowd.”

Demorest canceled its traditional July Fourth parade due to lack of participation. There also were no downtown festivities as in years past. Still, Sunday’s scaled-down event was well received by those who attended. Mayor Rick Austin says, “Hopefully, next year, everything is back to normal.”
