Community invited to “Pig Out” for charity

The 26th Annual Pig Out Raises Funds for Important Causes

Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia – April 19, 2015 – Saturday, May 23, marks the 26th anniversary for the Annual Pig Out Barbeque. The event will be held from noon “until the food runs out” at the Sautee Nacoochee Center. Proceeds from the event will support the Sautee Nacoochee Center, and a portion of funds raised will support the Sautee Nacoochee Volunteer Firefighters.

The firefighters have used previous funding for purposes such as purchasing life-saving equipment. These items have included a state-of-art automated electronic defibrillator, a thermal imaging camera that allows firefighters to scan a structure to check for persons who may be trapped inside, a fully-articulated dummy used in training exercises, an air bag lifting system and a computer software program that helps locate lost individuals.

The proceeds donated to the SNVFF from this year’s event will go to purchase computer equipment which will assist our firefighters with crucial technology updates. The Sautee Center will use its portion to support educational programming for children and adults.

The Center will be dishing out delicious barbecue including pork, chicken, firehouse beans, slaw, mouth-watering desserts and more. Plates are $10 each.

The Sautee Nacoochee Center Art Galleries, History Museum, and Folk Pottery Museum will also be open on Saturday from 10am-5pm. Sautee Nacoochee Center is located at 283 Highway 255 North in Sautee Nacoochee, one-quarter north of Highway 17. For further information call 706-878-3300 or visit the Center website www.snca.org.
