Searchers find body of missing swimmer in Lake Lanier

Searchers today found the body of a missing swimmer on Lake Lanier. He’s been identified as 23-year-old Anthony Saintil, Jr., of Stockbridge.

Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, game wardens with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources located Saintil’s body with sector scan sonar at the mouth of Balus Creek, says DNR spokesperson Mark McKinnon. “They confirmed the body with the Remote Operated Vehicle and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office dive team made the recovery in 44 feet of water,” he says.

The search began around noon Saturday after Saintil jumped off a pontoon into the lake and didn’t resurface.

While unrelated, the incident location is a short distance from another missing swimmer search, WXIA-TV reports. Authorities have been looking for 20-year-old Dorian Adonis Pinson of Greenville, S.C. since April 18.

Pinson was one of three people who got off a rented pontoon boat at Sunrise Cove Marina to swim. Two were rescued but Pinson didn’t resurface.
