A wreck in Banks County Monday claimed the life of a Maysville woman and critically injured another.
State Troopers say 77-year-old Lois Snipes died when she pulled into the path of a Georgia Power truck. It happened around 4:26 p.m. on May 3 at the intersection of Greasy Creek Street at Yonah Homer Road.
Troopers with Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville investigated the crash. They say Snipes was driving a Ford F150 north on Greasy Creek Street and failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign. At the intersection, she turned in front of the eastbound Freightliner M2.
Banks County firefighters had to extricate Snipes and her passenger from the pickup. EMS transported 40-year-old Pamela Snipes, also of Maysville, to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition.
Joshua Simpson, 26, of Athens, was driving the Georgia Power vehicle. Both he and his passenger, 24-year-old Brett Haynes of Baldwin, were uninjured.
