CLEVELAND – A standoff between police and a suspect in Cleveland ended peacefully Tuesday after the White County SWAT Team moved in to help.
E-911 dispatched police to a residence at 50 White Street around 11:49 a.m. on April 20 after a caller reported an aggravated assault. When officers arrived, they found an injured female, according to Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker. She was removed from the scene and taken for treatment.
Police found the suspect, identified as Nicholas Ryan Stills, of Cleveland, inside a nearby apartment. Stills reportedly made threats of violence and use of weapons toward officers and refused to cooperate, WRWH News reports.
Due to the potential danger, Cleveland Police requested the SWAT Team. Negotiations with Stills were unsuccessful. The SWAT Team arrested him inside the apartment without further incident.
Police charged Stills with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and acts, battery, obstruction of law enforcement officers, disorderly conduct, and public indecency.
The case remains under investigation.
