Mr. Dewitt Loudermilk, age 94, formerly of Mt. Airy and resident at Magnolia Hills Retirement Home in Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
Born on January 28, 1927, in Cornelia, Georgia, he was a son of the late Winnie Landers and Paul Loudermilk. Dewitt attended Demorest High School before entering the Army in WWII and the Korean War. After the war, Dewitt worked for Chrysler in Detroit, Michigan, and retired with 30 years seniority. Dewitt moved from Michigan to Habersham County in 2000. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church in Cornelia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Quentin Loudermilk and Kenneth Loudermilk; sisters, Kathleen Underwood and Pauline Carrol.
Surviving are his siblings, Zadie Ovaline York of Mt. Airy, Paul Efford Loudermilk of Cornelia, Louise Shirley of Turnerville, and Shirley Harper of Jonesboro.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart, with Rev. James Lyons and Rev. James Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by Grant Reeves Post# 7720.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.
