Cleveland man killed in single-vehicle accident

A 69-year-old Cleveland man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening on Highway 75 north of Cleveland.

According to Troopers with Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville, William Scott Bentley died when the 2005 GMC Sierra truck he was driving ran off the road and crashed into a tree.

The accident happened around 6:23 p.m. April 10 on Highway 75 about a half-mile north of State Route 384/Duncan Bridge Road.

Troopers say Bentley was driving southbound on Highway 75 when he crossed over the center line and ran off the east shoulder of the highway. He died at the scene.

The Georgia State Patrol report says alcohol and or drugs may have contributed to the fatal accident.
