Two men have been arrested and charged in a drug-related shooting.
Yesterday around 8:00 a.m., Habersham County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a report of a possible shooting at 4105 Hollywood Highway.
When deputies arrived they found 38-year-old Jamee Doddridge from Clayton, Georgia. Doddridge was there for remodeling work while the owners were out of town. He initially stated that he was asleep when he was awoken by two shots from a shotgun and a white pickup rushing out of the driveway. The investigation revealed that Doddridge and another man identified as 25-year-old Brandon Stancil of Lakemont, Georgia had gotten into an argument. Stancil went out to his truck, retrieved a shotgun, fired two rounds into the air, got into his pickup, and drove off.
During their investigation, deputies could smell the strong odor of what they believed to be marijuana. As a result, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) was called and a request was made for a narcotics investigator to respond to the scene.
The ARDEO investigator executed a search warrant which resulted in the discovery of remnants of marijuana and a homemade marijuana smoking device with burnt residue. Additionally, the narcotics investigator also located approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine.
Doddridge was charged with 1 count of Trafficking Methamphetamine.
Stancil, who had left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, was later stopped in his vehicle and charged with DUI.
Both subjects are currently being held at the Habersham County Detention Center, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
