There’s a big weekend on tap for music lovers in Helen.
The 3rd Annual Alpine Helen Songwriters Festival kicks off this evening. The two-day event will feature nearly a dozen artists including Dave Gibson and Pete Sallis. From Alabama’s “Jukebox in My Mind” to Maddie and Tae’s “Shut Up and Fish,” hear the stories behind the songs.
The event runs from 4-10 p.m. March 19 and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.
The festival will take place at several locations, including the Market Platz Bandshell. River Street will be closed from Main Street to the Wildewood Shop Friday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight Friday and again Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to midnight.
Other featured songwriters include “Angels Among Us” Becky Hobbs, Luke Bryan opener Chancie Neal, and “Ole Red” collaborator Mark Sherrill.
