The White County Coroner says a man found dead over the weekend in Helen died of natural causes.
Officers discovered the body of 62-year-old Michael Stewart of Helen Saturday morning. They found him behind a vacant house for sale on South Main Street across the road from the Circle K convenience store.
Police began searching for Stewart after a woman contacted them to say she had not seen or spoken to him in four days. She told officers that was unusual.
Upon finding him, authorities launched a death investigation, but Helen Police Chief Brian Stephens said no foul play was suspected. The White County Coroner’s Office determined Stewart died of natural causes and released his name after notifying his next of kin.
