Pedestrian struck, injured on Big A Road in Toccoa

A Toccoa man was injured Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle on one of the town’s busiest thoroughfares.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 24-year-old Raquon Lewis was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Destiny House, 20, of Gainesville. House was driving north on Big A Road in Toccoa when Lewis “abruptly darted onto the roadway” into the path of her vehicle, the GSP report states.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. Emergency personnel transported Lewis to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of his injuries. His condition is not known at this time. House was not injured in the collision.

According to the report “Multiple witnesses stated that the pedestrian was arguing with others in the adjacent parking lot before running onto the roadway.”
