The City of Baldwin had scheduled a special election that would have been held on Mar. 16, but because Venter was the only candidate to qualify for the post, the City of Baldwin and the Habersham Elections Office canceled the upcoming special election.

This November, the Baldwin City Council will have three seats up for election: Mayor, currently held by Joe Elam, Post 4, now held by Maarten Venter, and Post 5, held by Alice Venter. Anyone interested in running for these positions must qualify between Aug. 16, 2021, and Aug. 20, 2021. Those qualifications will take place in the elections office of the Habersham County Administrative Building in Clarkesville with a $35 fee.
