A Dahlonega woman is out of jail on bond after being arrested for allegedly stealing around $107,000 from the church where she worked. Alycia Christy, 49, is accused of stealing the money from Northlake Baptist Church on GA 60/Thompson Bridge Road in Hall County.
Christy was an administrative assistant at the church. Investigators say she stole the money over a three year period and used the money to pay credit card bills.
The alleged theft occurred between January 2018 and January 2021. On Jan. 12 of this year, church officials notified law enforcement after discovering the theft.
Christy turned herself in at the Hall County Jail on Friday, Jan. 15. Deputies charged her with felony theft by taking. She was released from jail two days later on a $22,200 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
