Habersham Central High School staff and students are mourning the loss of a beloved teacher. Marketing instructor Dawn Brown, 52, passed away over the weekend following an illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville.
Brown began her career as a vocational education instructor at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville. She was in her 24th year of teaching when she died.
“Mrs. Dawn Brown was a valued member of our Raider family and an excellent marketing instructor who will be greatly missed,” says Habersham Central High School Principal Jonathan Stribling. “Mrs. Brown had a positive influence on countless faculty members and students at Habersham Central and was the trusted adult of many adolescents in our school. To say the least, she was a successful teacher who saw beyond the content to the needs of the whole student.”
According to her obituary, teaching was Brown’s “passion” and watching her students achieve their goals “was the highlight of her career.”
Brown is survived by her husband, Tim Brown, daughter Brittney and son Jacob. Her family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Home in Clarkesville from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30. Brown’s funeral will be held the following day in the Hillside Funeral Home chapel located at 5495 GA 197 South in Clarkesville.
“Mrs. Brown has left a legacy at Habersham Central of quality instruction, compassion and mentorship in the wake of her passing,” says Stribling. “The entire Habersham Central family mourns her loss and is praying for her family during this time.”
