Habersham E911 tracks Santa and Rudolph on visit to Habersham

First responders added to the Christmas magic in Habersham County last night as they issued hourly alerts on Santa’s location.

Habersham County E911 Dispatch issued its first alert around 6 p.m. with a special BOLO from the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

“At approximately 1800 hours satellite photos showed a small red object in the area of the North Pole,” the dispatcher said. At that time, the only available information was that it was a “small red object occupied by a male dressed in red. Does appear to be pulled by small 10-54s resembling deer,” she added.
As the object traveled south, NORAD and Habersham E911 tracked its location. Red Bird Media shared the alerts with wide-eyed children on Christmas Eve.

Santa’s arrival in Habersham

After making his way past New York City and Washington D.C., officials tracked Santa to Habersham County in Northeast Georgia around 9:30 p.m. Someone spotted him near the county fire station on the Hollywood Highway.

“Reported sightings of a red sleigh being pulled by nine reindeer occupied by Santa Claus in Habersham County at this time,” the dispatcher alerted. “Santa Claus is landing on rooftops of houses entering residences either by chimneys or front doors and leaving presents for good little boys and girls.”

Eye (and ear) witnesses reported hearing laughter and a “cheerful ‘Ho, Ho, Ho,'” she said.

It was at this point that Habersham E911 reported Santa advised, “that all Habersham County children should be in their beds fast asleep in order for him to deliver his presents.”

Dispatch notified law enforcement that Santa would remain in the area visiting all houses for two or three hours. The 911 operator advised them not to detain him if they made contact with him. “Render any assistance necessary to help him on his way.”

Habersham Dispatch issued its last Santa alert just after 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.

“Dispatch to all units, our station has received several phone calls reporting sightings of Santa Claus and his reindeer with Rudolph in front of the red sleigh with his red nose all aglow.

Santa Claus was heard saying as he drove out of sight, on Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer, on Vixen, on Comet, on Cupid, on Donner, and on Blitzen. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!”
