Agents seize $400K in methamphetamine, arrest Gainesville man

Agents from multiple agencies arrested a Gainesville man on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 10, after confiscating approximately four kilograms of methamphetamine during a multi-agency investigation.

Edwin Barrera, 30, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and remained in the Hall County Jail without bond on Friday afternoon, Dec. 11.

During the investigation, agents arrested Barrera in the 1300 block of Otila Drive in Hall County and located the drugs, according to Hall County Sheriff’s spokesperson Derreck Booth. He says the drugs are worth approximately $400,000 on the street.

Officers from the Gainesville/Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad Unit, GBI, and Homeland Security were involved in the investigation.

The case remains under investigation by law enforcement, although additional arrests and charges are not expected.
