The Georgia Department of Transportation will close a section of State Route 332 in Jackson County for six months next year. The section of road that travels over Walnut Creek and its overflow will be closed so crews can reconstruct two bridges.

The pair of bridges were built in 1960 and need to be updated to current standards, says GA-DOT spokesperson Katie Strickland.

The road will be closed beginning on January 4, 2021. Traffic will be detoured by way of Old Pendergrass Road to State Route 11/US 129 also State Route 60, State Route 124, and State Route 53 will be marked to route traffic around the closed bridges.
