Alleged drug trafficker arrested in Hiawassee

A South Carolina woman is in jail charged with trafficking after police say they discovered thousands of dollars worth of drugs hidden beneath her car. The discovery was made during a traffic stop in Hiawassee.

Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) says Hiawassee police stopped 32-year old Tonya Bouler of Rock Hill for a motor vehicle violation. He says she gave police permission to search her vehicle. When they did, according to Posey, they found two magnetic boxes underneath the car containing “approximately three (3) ounces of methamphetamine, marijuana, $1110.00, three sets of digital scales and other drug packaging materials.” The street value of the drugs is $5,000.

The Hiawassee Police Department, Towns County Sheriff’s Office and ARDEO were involved in the arrest. Bouler is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. She’s being held in the Towns County Detention Center.

Posey says a variety of pharmaceutical pills were also collected and sent to the GBI Lab for analysis.  Additional arrests and charges are pending the ARDEO investigation.
