The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of three people involved in a serious car wreck Tuesday evening in Mt. Airy. The crash critically injured 82-year-old Robert Lee Edwards and 71-year-old Shirley Prescheski, both of Clayton.

Guy Jordan, 67, of Gainesville was also involved in the accident but was not seriously injured, according to Trooper Brady Galloway of Georgia Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

Galloway says charges in the wreck are still pending.

The accident happened around 6:22 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 on U.S. Highway 441/GA-15 just south of Antioch Church Road.

According to the State Patrol, Edwards was driving a Cadillac CTS north on the highway when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the median into the southbound lane. The Cadillac struck a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and veered off the roadway.

Prescheski was a passenger in the Cadillac. She and Edwards were both trapped inside the car. It took emergency crews nearly an hour to stabilize them and free them from the wreckage.

AirLife 2 paramedics helped Habersham County EMTs treat the patients while Habersham EMS transported them to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Jordan sustained minor scrapes and bruises, according to officials. As of Wednesday evening, Edwards and Prescheski both remained in critical condition, according to Galloway.

Baldwin, Cornelia, and Clarkesville Fire Departments and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. The accident shut down GA-15/U.S. 441 South near the crash site for several hours.
