James Wilburn Jones, age 88 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia on May 30, 1932, he was a son of the late William Allison Jones and Cora Mayfield Jones. Mr. Jones was self-employed and a poultry farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors and farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, D’Wayne Jones; brothers, Davis Jones, and Harold “H.B.” Jones; sisters, Stella Mae Bennett, Joyce Cantrell, Nell Eubanks, Jeanette Wilkerson, and Jewel Wofford.
Surviving are his son, Ricky Jones of Gainesville; daughter, LaJuana Jones of Clarkesville; sisters, Levern Porter and Juanita Helton both of Gainesville and Geneva Abercrombie of Oakwood; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2020, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. John Umberhant officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made in Mr. Jones’ memory to a charity of one’s choice.
