(Cleveland)- The White County Commissioners have made their selection of members to the newly created Elections and Registration Board.

The commissioners expressed their appreciation for the large number of citizens who expressed interest in serving. A total of 18 applications were received.

Commissioner Craig Bryant said, “This is the most applications we have ever had for one board, people are really interested in this and it’s really important.”

The commissioners named Russell Mobley and Dwayne Turner to serve two-year terms and Marlon Caldwell, Todd Marks, and Louise Nix to serve four-year terms. The board will officially begin work on January first.

Commission Chairman Travis Turner said they had a couple of reasons they wanted to select this board now, “In particular, Judge Baker is retiring the end of December and number two we have a general election and, candidly, a runoff election, that’s after the general election. There’s no better opportunity to learn for a board of election from someone such as Judge Baker and his staff.”
