HEMC CEO resigns

Long-time Habersham Electric Membership Corporation President/CEO, Todd Pealock, has resigned.  HEMC Chairman, Hugh Rucker, made the announcement in a press release Tuesday. Pealock’s resignation is effective immediately.

Rucker says Pealock resigned to, “…seek other interests and opportunities.”  He says, “The HEMC board of directors wants to thank Mr. Pealock for his many years of exceptional service to the co-op and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”  Pealock worked at HEMC for 19 years.

While further details of Pealock’s resignation have not been released, Now Habersham did reach out to his family. His daughter, Ansley Pealock Green, says, “HEMC couldn’t have asked for a better leader, more than that– he was a servant leader, which is pivotal in a membership-run corporation.” Pealock was assistant manager at HEMC for two years before taking over as President/CEO in 1997.

Habersham Electric Membership Corporation is a member-owned electric cooperative that serves 34,000 electric consumers in six Northeast Georgia counties. The company also provides fiber and DSL internet services to customers in the region.

According to Pealock’s online bio for a 2013 digital economy conference, he has assisted in the formation of several new cooperative businesses during his career.  They include Green Power EMC, the Georgia Energy Cooperative and, most recently, the North Georgia Network Cooperative, a fiber-optic network serving the northeast Georgia area. Prior to joining HEMC, Pealock spent ten years as an engineer for Oglethorpe Power Corporation.
