On Friday, 444 seniors from Habersham Central High School and the Success Academy will finally graduate, two months after the end of their school year. The commencement ceremony is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Raider Stadium in Mount Airy. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with graduation ceremonies beginning promptly at 8 p.m.
Seniors received their caps and gowns this week and spent yesterday and today practicing for graduation which has been adjusted to accommodate for COVID-19 safety measures.
This year, graduates will sit in chairs six-feet apart on the football field and there will be no on-field celebrations allowed after the ceremony.
Each graduate is limited to four tickets to ensure social distancing among guests. Family groups will be seated six-feet apart in the stands. To manage this, the school has issued two different tickets to designate on which side of the stadium guest’s seats are located.
ORANGE-colored tickets are for seats located on the VISITOR side of the stadium. There will be a drop-off drive-thru located directly in front of the visitor entrance gate for family members in need of accommodation. Guests with seats on the visitor side of the stadium are encouraged to park in the Habersham Central High School parking lot.
BLUE-colored tickets are for seats located on the HOME side of the stadium. There will be a drop-off drive-thru located directly in front of the home side gates for family members in need of accommodation. Guests with seats on the home side of the stadium are encouraged to park in the Ninth Grade Academy parking lot.
Please keep in mind that graduates will be returning to Habersham Central High School immediately following graduation ceremonies and that there will be no post-graduation celebration activities in the stadium. Family members will have to reunite with graduates at Habersham Central High School.
Camp Creek Road at Owens Circle will be closed beginning at 5:45 p.m. until after graduation is over.
For those unable to attend, the graduation ceremony will be streamed live on YouTube at Hab Raiders Video.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony may be delayed for up to two hours. If inclement weather persists, the ceremony will be held in Raider Stadium on Saturday, August 1, at 9 a.m. and may be delayed for up to two hours if necessary. If graduation is not possible Saturday morning, Commencement will be held Saturday evening, August 1, at 8 p.m.
