Easton Foundation set to host 8th Annual Battle of the Heroes August 15th

(Alto) – The Easton Foundation will hold its 8th Annual “Battle of the Heroes” charity flag football game on August 15 at Habersham Central High School. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Raider Stadium with first responders from Habersham County and Banks County taking on first responders from Hall County in the flag football game.

The evening will be capped off shortly after the conclusion of the game with a 30-minute long Fireworks Extravaganza.

“The Battle of the Heroes game this year is expected to be a great event, as always,” says Glenn Ingram, the chairman of the Easton Foundation Board of Directors. “With all of the uncertainty during these trying times, this event could prove to be one of the best in the area.”

The Easton Foundation is taking measures to maintain the safety of players, staff, and spectators due to COVID-19. Both players and staff will be going through COVID-19 screening from 2 weeks prior to the game all the way through the event. Spectators are also highly encouraged to adhere to social distancing practices set forth by the CDC and the Governor’s Office.

“The Battle of the Heroes has grown every year, and look forward to what this game has in store,” says Casey Lizama, the President of the Easton Foundation. “It’s exciting every year to see how special this event is to the community and the Easton Foundation.”

As in years past, the evening will begin with pre-game festivities by public address announcer Devin Thompson and on-field host Lori Jones. The pre-game ceremonies will include the National Anthem, introducing some of the VIP guests, and more.

At halftime of the game, The Easton Foundation will once again put on a circle of honor in order to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting our community and nation both domestic and abroad. Halftime will also include presentations from members of the Easton Foundation explaining the mission of the Easton Foundation for the Northeast Georgia community.

Fans are encouraged to stick around after the game for the Fireworks Extravaganza, a 30-minute fireworks display. The Fireworks Extravaganza will begin around 15 minutes after the conclusion of the game.

The Battle of the Heroes game is the main fundraiser for the Easton Foundation. The event began in 2013 and has grown each year since.

The Easton Foundation 501 (c)(3) is based out of Habersham County, Georgia. After losing Easton Singleton, a beloved friend and teen to a car accident in 2012, the community rallied together to turn tragedy into triumph. The Easton Foundation was founded by Casey Lizama shortly after Easton’s passing in 2012 as a way to help other teens with pain and loss, and also encourage youth to connect with their community and become leaders. Each year the Easton Foundation not only provides assistance in times of need in the community but also awards numerous scholarships to help teens in the northeast Georgia community pursue their dreams of higher education.
