North Georgia Technical College will hold two drive-thru graduation ceremonies in August for spring and summer semester 2020 graduates.
The drive-thru ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, August 5, between 9 and 11 a.m. on the Clarkesville campus and 6 to 7 p.m. on the Blairsville campus.
The drive-thru ceremonies are in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We certainly did not want to cancel graduation for these students as they deserve to be recognized and celebrated for their hard work and exceptional achievement,” says NGTC President Dr. Mark Ivester. “We want to make sure everyone stays safe during these unusual times, and that the health of our students, faculty, and staff is always our first priority.”
Calling the ceremony “one for the history books of North Georgia Tech,” Ivester says each student will be individually recognized as they receive their diploma. Participating graduates will receive special surprises throughout the drive-thru course and will be cheered on by faculty and staff members in attendance.
NGTC graduates will receive an email regarding instructions for participating in the celebration on either campus.
Graduates are asked to bring one car of family or friends and decorate the car in celebration of graduation. The entrance for the Clarkesville campus drive-thru ceremony will be from North Loop Road off of Highway 197 North.
If it rains, graduation will be moved to Monday, August 17.
