Together, they enjoyed a life of adventure, including traveling to World Honey Shows in Ireland, South Korea, France, and Ukraine, each time returning home with multiple awards, including the top prize, the Gold Medal for “Best Honey in the World.” Carl was featured in many publications and was well-known in beekeeping circles throughout the world. The honey from their apiaries have been served at the White House in Washington, DC, the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, Le Cordon Bleu, and other renowned institutions. Carl enjoyed running (he finished more than 25 marathons and 10K races), hiking with friends, ballroom dancing, listening to classical music, and tending his orchard.
