Editor’s Note: The following tribute is a personal one to my mom from me on Mother’s Day. Please share your tributes with us on the Now Habersham Facebook page. And to all the moms out there – Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day, Anne Purcell. There are five grateful souls walking this Earth and another in heaven blessed with the privilege of calling you Mom. Thank you for loving us separately but the same. Thank you for giving us the freedom to make our mistakes and for never turning your back on us when we do. Thank you for teaching us that life is to be cherished and that even in bad times there are reasons to smile.

Mom, thank you for showing us that empathy, compassion, and kindness are not signs of weakness but rather hallmarks of true strength of character. Thank you for living your faith, not just preaching it. Thank you for loving our dad and remaining faithful to him even when others thought he would never come home from the war. Your love and fidelity built the foundation for our lives. Thank you for giving us that strong foundation to build on.

Mom, you are the epitome of goodness and grace. Your smile emanates from your soul. Today, we are all smiling back at you from different corners of the world. We are a family unit because you made us one, not just through birth, but through love. Thank you for that. We love you, Mom, forever and always. – David, Clarice, Debbie, Cliff, Sherri & Joy
