In accordance with the state of North Carolina and Governor Roy Cooper’s executive order 117, the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts (SMCPA) has been “forced to postpone some events scheduled for the coming weeks.”
The SMCPA’s production of “Aladdin Jr.,” originally scheduled for March 27, 2020, and March 28, 2020, has been moved to April 30, 2020. The performances of “A Glimpse of His Last Days,” which were scheduled for April 3, 2020, and April 4, 2020, have been canceled. The SMCPA plans for another performance of “A Glimpse of His Last Days” in the fall of this year. All ticket holders for these events should expect calls from the theater’s box office regarding ticket transfers and/or refunds.
The Smoky Mountain Center for Performing Arts says it’s “closely monitoring and following the guidelines set forth by state and federal health regulators.” They say that the safety of their staff, artists and patrons are their first priorities, and are taking added measures to ensure the health of those involved at SMCPA. These measures include increased disinfecting, availability of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and handwashing stations.
All events beyond these are scheduled to run as normal. The theater recommends staying up-to-date with their shows via their website.
