The Giving Board

Sharing is caring; it’s a common phrase packed with truth. And customers at a Clarkesville restaurant are taking it to heart.

Stoney’s Family Restaurant on Washington Street recently started ‘The Giving Board’ after a customer suggested the idea to management.

With The Giving Board, anyone in the community may donate food or money to go towards a meal. Employees tack a card to the board noting their donation. Other customers are then welcome to pull off the card and redeem it at the register for the amount or item listed.

A sign on the board reads, “Have a little extra? Leave a meal. Need a hand up? Take a meal.”

Kelli Brookshire runs the restaurant. In her social media announcement explaining the program she says “we all have our bad days, bad months, or even bad years.”

“This board is to help put a smile on someone’s face and a meal in someone’s tummy.”

Stoney’s has been serving the local community for 55 years providing people with home-cooked meals and southern hospitality.

While the local breakfast hotspot is having no trouble receiving donations, it is having a hard time giving them away. Stoney’s wants the community to know it’s a ‘judgment-free service’ that’s available for anyone to use and enjoy regardless of their situation.

If you can’t make it to the restaurant in person but want to participate, you may donate to The Giving Board by mail or over the phone at (706)-754-4328.
