Shirley Ann Wheeler Garrett

Shirley Ann Wheeler Garrett, age 76 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, following a brief illness.

Born on May 5, 1943, Mrs. Garrett was the daughter of the late Thomas and Melvinnie Nations Wheeler. She was a seamstress at Clarkesville Garment and Orbit Manufacturing and later retired from Fieldale Farms, Inc where she worked at The Franklin Farm. Mrs. Garrett enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching western shows. She loved her grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. She was excellent at giving them orders and advice until her final days. Mrs. Garrett was also into arts and crafts, especially painting, and she liked to do crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrett is preceded in death by her husband Julian Garrett, daughter Pamela Annette Garrett, and brothers Roy Wheeler, Eugene Wheeler and Elmer Wheeler.

Survivors include her loving grandchildren that she considered her own children, Julie and Steven Sisk of Demorest and Shann and Rebekah Franklin of Cornelia, grandchildren Kaylie, Corey, BreeAnn, Katelyn, Wesley, Aleysha, Asher and Amelia, great-grandchildren Macie, Isaac, Skylar, J.J., MagNolia, Harrison and Case, brothers Joe Wheeler (Nina) of Cleveland and Tommy Wheeler of Cornelia, sisters Brenda Payne (Tommy) of Cleveland and Betty Durden of Toccoa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
