The accident happened Feb. 15 in the same area where a Lakemont man was killed
A pre-dawn crash on Saturday injured three people, just hours before a fatal crash in the same area north of Clayton.
Christian Blas Delgado, 40 of Atlanta, was rounding a curve on GA-15/US 441 South near Clayburn Street when he crossed the center line. The 2015 Toyota Tacoma he was driving struck the front of a 2013 black Nissan Altima in the northbound lane.
The Altima was driven by Don Cobb, 31, of Stockbridge. He and a passenger in his car, 31-year-old Brittany Chandler, also of Stockbridge, both suffered broken legs. The wreck also broke Chandler’s femur, according to the State Patrol.
The accident injured Delgado’s back.
Rabun County EMS transported all three to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
The Trooper investigating the crash, TFC Ben Cheek from Post 7 in Toccoa, charged Delgado with DUI and other traffic violations. The State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting Trooper Cheek with the investigation.
The accident happened just four hours prior to another accident that occurred in the same area on the same day. A Lakemont man was killed in that crash.
