Two escape unharmed after tree falls on mobile home

Two people escaped serious injury early this morning in Clarkesville when a tree came crashing down onto the mobile home where they were sleeping.

First responders were dispatched to the scene at 220 Park Place Drive in Clarkesville around 5:30 a.m. Friday. Habersham County Emergency Services (HCES) Director Chad Black says the tree toppled onto the roof directly above the room where one person was asleep. The other occupant was in the living room.

When first responders arrived, the residents were attempting to crawl out through the debris and damage. HCES personnel got them and two cats out through a rear door.

Miraculously, no one was injured but the residents were left homeless. The mobile home sustained major damage. Public safety personnel who were at the scene say the residence is unlivable.
