John David Boonstra

John David Boonstra, age 64 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019, at his residence after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born on August 14, 1955, in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, he was a son of Ann Natalie Boonstra of Houston, TX and the late Juan Samuel Boonstra. Mr. Boonstra was the owner and operator of several Subway restaurants. He was an elder and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia. In his spare time, Mr. Boonstra enjoyed watching sporting events with his family, grilling, golfing, reading, and working on his ’73 Ford Bronco.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 38 years, Brenda Boonstra of Cornelia; children and spouses, John (JB) & Abby Boonstra of Orlando, FL, Christen Boonstra of Athens, Nicole & Clay Scott of Smyrna, Joseph Boonstra and Dylan Boonstra both of Cornelia; grandchildren, Juniper & Ezra Boonstra and Waylyn Scott; siblings and spouses, Ric & Marlene Boonstra of Chicago, IL, Peter & Mary Boonstra of Crete, IL, and Natalie & Mike Mantel of Houston, TX.

Memorial services are 11:00 am Monday, December 9, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, with Rev. Andy S. Chambers and Rev. Blaine Walker officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2-4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, PO Box 165, Cornelia, GA 30531. Donations will be used to install a
freshwater well in an underserved community in Latin America, a cause that was significant to Mr. Boonstra.
