A Clarkesville man who was last heard from on Sunday was found dead in an overturned pickup truck Monday in White County.
The Georgia State Patrol identifies the man as 70-year-old Edgar H. Jones. His body was discovered inside a 1990 Toyota pickup truck that wrecked on Lynch Mountain Road.
State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville reports that a passerby saw the wreckage and called authorities just before 4 p.m. on November 18. Troopers are not sure exactly when the accident happened; Jones was last heard from Sunday night.
Evidence at the scene indicates Jones was traveling south on Lynch Mountain Road, failed to maintain his lane, and ran off the road. His pickup truck overturned as it ran down an embankment and then crashed into a tree.
The State Patrol says Jones was wearing his seatbelt.
