Movie production returns to Clayton

A production crew will start work next month on a new movie in Clayton and producers are now holding casting calls for extras.

Clayton will serve as the backdrop for the crime-drama, Blue Ridge. South Carolina-based Imagicomm Entertainment will distribute the film. It’s the company’s tenth film offering.

Imagicomm also distributes Christmas on the Range which was filmed in Clayton in 2018. It’s currently available on the Vudu streaming service and on DVD.

Gary Wheeler directed and produced Christmas on the Range and will serve as a producer on Blue Ridge.

“Clayton’s picturesque vistas and warm townspeople made the decision to return a no-brainer,” notes Wheeler in a news release. “The crew can’t wait to reconnect with old friends when we arrive on set in a few days!”

Extras needed

The crew is scheduled to begin filming Blue Ridge on November 7. According to producers from Sydney Productions, Inc., casting is almost complete.

Local residents can apply to be a part of the film. Producers are now casting extras of all ages and encourage families and individuals to apply. They need 300 extras for a festival scene being filmed on November 7.

Blue Ridge is scheduled for release in 2020.
