The regional drug crackdown continues with several arrests in Rabun County. Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Clayton Police recently executed search warrants on two suspected drug houses in Clayton. Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey says 35-year old Robert Collins was arrested at his residence at 329 Clayton Avenue. 30-year old Amanda Wall was arrested at her residence located at 160-A Stavemill Street. A third person, 35-year old Jackie Lee Beaty was arrested at Wall’s residence and charged with obstruction.
According to a press release issued by Posey:
“A month long investigation revealed Collins and Wall were selling methamphetamine from their residences. Collins and Wall were selling methamphetamine independent of each other. A small about of methamphetamine and 15 grams of ephedrine were located at Collins’ residence. A small amount of methamphetamine and numerous pharmaceutical pills were located at Wall’s residence.”
Although Collins and Wall allegedly were selling independent of each other, Posey says their residences are within close proximity of each other and that’s why the warrants were executed simultaneously.
This isn’t Collins’ first brush with the law. Posey says he was arrested in November of 2014 for selling methamphetamine after Rabun County authorities executed a search warrant at his residence and found approximately ½ ounce of methamphetamine.
Collins is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of more than 9 grams of ephedrine. Wall is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule III and IV narcotic. Both are being held in the Rabun County Jail.
Regional crackdown
The Rabun County arrests bring to at least ten the number of people who’ve been arrested on drug charges by the ARDEO and local law enforcement since February.
