A little inspiration is mustered amongst the youngins with a couple degrees cooler temps at 4117 feet elevation in Highlands. The flat looping 3k course that started at the gym area meandered around the track, zigzagged on the field, and then circled the soccer field before returning to deja vu again. The enthusiasm is felt a little longer, mental barriers are exceeded a little easier, and the ‘pushing thyself’ is a little stronger.
Sans the top two Tribe harriers, TFS girls finished second of the five Tri-State schools. Scorers included Haygen James (5th) of the 27 females, followed by Maggie Shelton (8th), and Dani Prince (14th). Displacers Jasmyn Marshall (20th) and Carsyn Griffis (22nd) followed.
TFS boys placed third, led by eighth placer Blair Moore, followed by QianFeng William Xu. Running his best race ever, Dalton Geltz preceded Timothy Beck, Henry Rickman, and Charlie Harris.
Personal records for a 3k course were run by Moore, Xu, Geltz, Beck, Rickman, James, Shelton, Prince, and Marshall. Geltz and Marshall earned TFS Runner of the Meet honors for their significant improvement and tenacious determination.
“I was most proud of Dalton and Jasmyn! They kicked it up a gear, never walked for the first time, and clearly smashed their goals for the race,” said Coach Neal.
