Battling Bishops Too Strong For Lions

Demorest, GA – The Piedmont College men’s tennis team dropped a USA South decision earlier today to the nation’s 25th ranked team in the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College.

PC dropped all three doubles as well as the six singles decisions in the contest to fall 9-0, only the third time the Lions have been shut out this season with two of those decisions coming in conference play.

The decision at #1 doubles went to N.C. Wesleyan’s regionally ranked pair of Robert Kjellberg and Sebastian Sikh who are currently tabbed #4 in the South Atlantic Region by the ITA.  The two defeated Piedmont Matthew Metzger and Nathan Metzger 8-2.

The loss puts Piedmont at 4-5 overall and now 2-2 in USA South action so far in 2015.

The Lions will travel to Atlanta this coming Tuesday for an in-state showdown with Oglethorpe University, a non-conference mid-week contest for Piedmont.  First serve in the March 31 match is set for 3:30 pm.
