Eighteen years ago today the United States of America came under attack. Terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. Two flew into the World Trade Center in New York and another struck the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers revolted upon hearing of what happened to the other planes.
The terror and agony of that day are seared into the memories of everyone who witnessed it firsthand and of those who stood and helplessly watched as the attacks unfolded live on TV.
One attack followed the next. No one but those responsible for them knew when they would end.

It was the worst of days that brought out the best in US. May we never forget.
