Lawrence Dailey, Sr., age 85, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019.
Mr. Dailey was born on June 15, 1934 in Bloomingdale, Georgia to the late J.A. Dailey and Gladys Mae Rahn Dailey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Dailey, Bradford Dailey, Ernest Dailey; sisters, Thelma Carter, Elizabeth Ennis, Edith Ramsey, Lorita McDonough; and great-grandson, Peyton James. Mr. Dailey was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. He was also a member and past Master of Cornelia Lodge #92 F&AM. Mr. Dailey was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a retired commerical bus driver and known as a “Jack of all trades”. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Edna Monroe Dailey, of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jimmy Waller, of Cornelia; daughter, Felicia Cooper, of Conyers; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Stan Partin, of Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Kimberli Dailey, of Alto; Wendell and Andrea Dailey, of Clarkesville; son, Charles Dailey, of Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Barbara Dailey, of Savannah; fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Johnny Ray officating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corp, the Grant Reeves VFW post 7720, the American Legion Post 84, and the Rabun DAV#15 and Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F&AM.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the funeral home.
