A Cleveland man is in jail following a widespread crackdown on child internet sex crimes. Police arrested 22-year-old Justin Lee Myers along with 30 others in Georgia during Operation Southern Impact III.
Ten Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces in eight states coordinated the operation. Law enforcement targeted suspects who possess and distribute child pornography. They also focused on those who exploit children in other ways using technology and the internet.
“…the Georgia ICAC Task Force will not cease searching for those who are producing, trading and collecting this graphic material.”
This is not Myers’ first arrest. A White County deputy picked him up earlier this year for failing to register as a sex offender and other charges, according to WRWH News.
Dozens arrested across eight states
In all, officers arrested 82 suspects over three days in the eight states. There were 17 children rescued or identified as victims, the GBI says.
“The dedicated law enforcement professionals that are part of the Georgia ICAC Task Force will not cease searching for those who are producing, trading and collecting this graphic material,” says state task force commander Debbie Garner.
Other states involved in the operation include Alabama, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
