Missing Canton woman last seen in White County

The search continues for a Canton woman who was last seen swimming in Tesnatee Creek in White County. 34-year-old Belinda Butterfield was reported missing early Monday, April 15.

Authorities were called to the area off Sandy Flats Road and Dugas Road near the White-Lumpkin County line around 6 a.m. Monday. Butterfield’s mother reportedly told authorities they were together at the creek when her daughter voluntarily went into the water.

The creek runs into the Chestatee River.

The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Department of Natural Resources are working with White County officials to try and find the missing woman. Georgia DNR will continue flying over the waterways and shoreline as the search continues.
