In a unanimous 5-0 vote Monday night, the Habersham County school board hired Cody Anderson as Habersham Central’s new head boys basketball coach.
Anderson will become the Raiders fourth head coach in as many seasons. Habersham Central High School Athletic Director Geep Cunningham says he’s “very excited” Coach Anderson is joining the program. Hopefully this is the hire that stops the revolving door.
“I think we have found our basketball person that can make our program grow now and for the years to come,” says Cunningham.

Anderson graduated from Central in 2011. In the years since, he gained “unmeasurable experience” at the University of Georgia and Longwood University, says Cunningham.
Anderson worked four years as a student assistant in the UGA men’s basketball program under then head coach Mark Fox. In 2015 he went to Longwood in Farmville, Virginia as Director of Basketball Operations. The past three years, Anderson’s been an assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiter at the Division-1 school
“I think Cody is a great fit for HCHS not only as a basketball coach but as a teacher also,” says Cunningham. “Cody will get involved heavily with our young basketball programs in Habersham county from Rec league to Middle school up to the high school level. Coach Anderson is great for kids.”
Coach Anderson returns to his Raider roots this summer. Cunningham says he’ll have summer basketball when school lets out this spring.
