William Lloyd Cathey

William Lloyd Cathey, age 63, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 following an extended illness.

Mr. Cathey was born on September 5, 1955 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Marvin Cathey and Lois Ann Loudermilk Pruitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ann Cathey; grandparents, Robert H. and Leatha Cathey; Doc and Ruby Loudermilk. He was a 1973 graduate of Habersham Central High School. Mr. Cathey was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 20 years of service. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, and pa-pa; he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving children, Melissa Haynes and Kevin, of Alto; Mandy Leggett and Ben, of Smyrna; Josh Cathey and Alison, of Lula; Louis Cathey, of Colorado; Loretta Cathey Thomas, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Nicole Haynes; Jordan Haynes; Zachary Leggett; Annabelle Leggett; Caylee Carlson; Joel Thunder Standingcloud; Caleb Cathey; Branson Cathey; Wyatt Cathey; Shelby Grace Cathey; great-grandchild, Koen Haynes; and three nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Danny Oliver and Rev. Chad Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will accept friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019 and from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the funeral home.
