Wednesday Region Recap: Dawson cruises, Lumpkin shocks region with playoff berth

More hoops action took place on Wednesday evening. Check out the following region tournament recaps.

DAWSON COUNTY (BOYS)

The #2-seed Tigers took down #7 Fannin with ease, 81-38. Dawson County moves on to the region semifinals after securing a state playoff spot. Eli Burruss led with 15 points and 8 boards, while Luke Chism added 13 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jasper Gibson had 12 points, giving the boys three in double figures and 12 overall players who chipped in with points. The Tigers will face Lumpkin County on Friday at 5:30 PM.

LUMPKIN COUNTY (BOYS)

The Indians handed the region a HUGE upset with a shocking as the #6 seed, beating #3-seed North Hall 42-39 to secure a state playoff trip for the fifth time in the past six seasons. Lumpkin plays Dawson on Friday at 5:30 in the region semifinals.

TOWNS COUNTY (BOYS)

The Indians took on top-seeded Riverside, falling 80-53. Towns County will await GHSA Power Ratings for Class 1A to determine if they will make the state playoffs.
