Each year school systems across Northeast Georgia area which are a part of the Pioneer RESA area, honor an individual who has a strong commitment to improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities by presenting them with the Philip Wright Award.
The award is given in the name of Philip Wright, who created a legacy of service in this area.
Thursday night Sharon Brown, White County Special Olympics Chairperson was announced as the 2019 recipient.
The award was presented during the White County Board of Education Meeting by Mary Kay Berry, Director of Student Services for White County Schools.
