Habersham County Day at the Capitol set for February 20th

The Habersham County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring another day at the Capitol for residents who want to get an up close look at the state legislative process. This year’s Habersham County Day at the Capitol will be held Wednesday, February 20th.

Now in its ninth year, the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce developed this event as a way for community members to interact with and learn more about the state legislative process. It is also an opportunity to promote Habersham County to all Georgians through the General Assembly, says Chamber president Mary Beth Horton.

“We have arranged for our group to meet privately with Senator John Wilkinson and Representatives Terry Rogers and Chris Erwin,” says Horton. “It’s a great opportunity to discuss any legislative concerns of importance to your business and our county.”

A chartered bus will leave the Cornelia Depot at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at the Capitol about 9:00 a.m. The group should be back in Habersham by 4:00 p.m. A fee of $30 will cover riding the bus and having lunch with the group at the Capitol. Those who drive and join the group at the Capitol will need to pay the Chamber $20 for lunch.

All attendees must register with the Chamber.

The Chamber’s 2018-2019 Leadership Habersham class will be included among those attending. However, says Horton, “anyone wishing to help represent Habersham County is welcome and encouraged to go.”

To reserve your space on the bus or for lunch, contact the Chamber at 706-778-4654 or [email protected] by February 8. Seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
